From The Snows of Troy
Niagara
1womb of cold river and ice
black where the night rises
perfumed in plum
and sweet apple
cut against the grain
and fires along the river a womb
still in day
where the sun lingering
still
remembers
blood
where now form
and the still roots
flickering along the sun
womb of ice and flower
womb of perfect light
and mud, clay, silt, sand,
where the river cuts snow
and the heavy salt
along the rim of day.
The Snows of Troy
2close to the breath of day
moving as the ground moves
shifting as the leaves turn
as sun progresses and then night
turning dusk and the skin still poised
close to the breath of day
moving as the ground moves
and softly as heat increases
3each word linked again in bronze and plum blossom
in the snows of fuji yama and the still bleak plains of
troy falling my hands with plum
and the scent cutting across as i remain
and blood on dust and the pure cool scent at dusk
of blossoms lighting
falling the wounds and time increasing
moment after moment as the ground moves
and dusk falling
remains close to the breath
of day
inside a warping of time
where the precious blood
has scent of plum
and crowns torn
and hands burned where the battle has a long path
twisting across rock and plant
across the various moments in day
turned and to my side a sudden warmth
where the wounds are healed
and the day remaining
turns as darkness.
Extraits de Le Vert est fragile
champ invisible
4une syllabe dure
difficile à prononcer
parmi les pommiers
un geste lent et douloureux
champ invisible
planté il y a longtemps
ce que tu ramasses
appartient à la terre
veines de schiste
visage fermé
c’est le feu qui se cache
la voix chante ailleurs
enchantement
5toute une journée de plantes
tes yeux couverts de fleurs
ton ventre dans la floraison du pommier
peau luisante de l’orage
quand nous respirons ce qui nous dévore
souvenir
6vision des pruniers
aux marges du jour
fil mince et raide
7des fibres contre le soleil
lentement cette noirceur
sur ma tête
des ailes partout
l’image persistante d’un hêtre
dans le soleil matinal
prophète
8chaque pas à travers l’herbe
résiste au givre
les poumons de l’érable
une fumée impossible à prédire
Massawippi
