La manécanterie de la cathédrale Saint-Jean de Lyon

Abstracts

Some recent archéological researchs (1981-1984), allow to complete welknown texts, but often imprecise, and to paint the Lyon's choir school story, the oldest building of the city's historical center. Build during the VIIIth century on ruins dated from the IInd century after K.C., it has been for a long time as a common house for the cathedral's canons. Several mdofications have change it progressively : addition of a roman face during the XII century, elevation of one floor and transformation of the ground floor into shops during the XVIIth, destruction of the south and the east sides in 1768 for a reconstruction which never affears. It has the present configuration since the XIXth century.
