Holiness appears like a crossroad between monotheisms and because it spreads in a different way in each of them, holiness represents a starting point particularly interesting for a compared analysis of religions. The notion, conceived as being the breath which would become attached to human beings  and things and by whom God, having created them, would make himself present, understandable and even visible, proposes by its own definition many ways of investigation of the religious fact and the homo religious; Holiness had never been really explored in that way while the interest is undeniable to question in a new light the historiography of the religious matters. On one hand, the holiness adds up from the alfa to the omega the putting in sense of the world proposed by the monotheisms and the practices which are associated with them. On the other hand, the saints book a long cumulative list proposed in model of exemplary and identification.

Finally, holiness is an eminently contemporary idea, which we find both in the jihadist calls to the holy war and in the politic of canonization led by the Roman authorities. This durability, or maybe this impact strength, of the idea of holiness illustrates the necessity of a vast reflection, that we want here transreligious and interdisciplinary to contribute to the constitution of this religious notion in a tool of knowledge for the human sciences.
