1New talents are arriving: this note wishes to attract the attention of our readers to three posters chosen by an international jury1 at IGC2012, the World congress of the International Geographical Union

2Four topics were chosen for the IGC2012 (Global Change & Globalization, Society and Environment, Risks & Conflicts, Urbanization and Demographic Change), these four key topics were also the guiding categories for the call for posters.

3The poster exhibitions were held on Tuesday August the 28th and Wednesday August the 29th between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm in the Kurt Alder Lecture Hall, in the Department of Chemistry. An abstract of each poster can be found in the book of abstracts. The posters were set up in the morning, giving interested congress participants a chance to pre-view the poster exhibition prior to the poster session. Between 6:30 and 7:00 pm the poster jury presented awards to the authors of the best posters of each key topic. In all, 180 posters have been presented, in each category 3 prizes (Gold, Silver, Bronze) were awarded.

4Confins chose four of those nine laureates, judged to be the more innovative and likely to be of interest to its reader, three have accepted to publish their poster in our journal: Oana Ionus (from Romenia), Javier Nuñez Villalba (from Bolivia) and Hannes Künkel (from Germany).  They are reproduced belw in low-resolution jpeg format and annexed in full pdf format. For readers wishing to know more, here are the e-mails of the authors: oana_ionus@yahoo.com, jnunezvillalba@gmail.com and hk@hk-mountain-projects.com.
