On 7 and 8 September 2015, 18 authors and experts met at the Graduate Institute, Geneva, for an in-depth authors workshop organised by International Development Policy. The participants spent two days examining various kinds of ‘Conflicts of the Development’, which will constitute the subject of a special issue of the journal edited by Béatrice Hibou (SciencesPo Paris) and Irene Bono (University of Turin). The volume will be released in the second half of 2016 and will feature women authors only.
The workshop put together scholars specialised in the Middle-East and North Africa coming from different disciplinary perspectives. Brought together by a common concern for historical and geographical contextualisation, the papers discussed tensions around development discourses, practices and goals taking the form of protests, war and/or consensuses.
