Presentation

Strenæ is a journal published by the French Research Society on Children’s Books and Cultural Objects (AFRELOCE - Association Française de Recherches sur les Livres et Objets Culturels de l’Enfance), with the support of the National Centre for Children’s Literature - La Joie par les Livres/Bibliothèque nationale de France.

The journal gathers scholarly work from all disciplinary fields. It aims to promote and support French research not only on children’s literature and publishing, but also on oral culture, as well as images, games, toys and material artefacts intended for children, from a historical, literary, aesthetic or sociological perspective. Each issue combines a collection of thematically related contributions with a number of independent articles. The “archives and collections” section focuses in turn on different examples of particular holdings or collections of documents that have been highlighted by their curators or creators, in order to encourage their study through academic research. Finally the “reviews” section offers a rigorous assessment of newly published critical work dedicated to children’s books and culture.
