Created in 1943 by the CNRS, Gallia is the leading French archaeology journal. It publishes summative articles on discoveries and major research on ancient France. Its chronological field spans protohistory, from the first Iron Age, Antiquity and Late Antiquity, to the Merovingian kingdoms. Its geographical field embraces the Three Gauls, Gallia Narbonensis, the Germanies, and bordering territories. Published by CNRS Editions, the journal releases one volume per year, comprising two publications, a dossier and a varia issue. Gallia is inaugurating its site on OpenEdition by making its four latest issues available in full open access.
