Sextant, an annual international journal on women, gender studies, and sexuality, was founded in 1993 by the Groupe interdisciplinaire d’études sur les femmes at the Université libre de Bruxelles. Publishing was taken over in 2008 by Éditions de l’Université de Bruxelles. Sextant features previously unpublished articles in French and English from a variety of disciplines, including the humanities, the social sciences, law, and psychology. Articles examine topics ranging from labor and civil rights to domestic servanthood and colonialism through the lens of gender. The journal is joining OpenEdition Journals with three open-access issues.
