Created in 1958 and published annually by the Institut royal du Patrimoine artistique, the Bulletin de l’Institut royal du Patrimoine artistique / Bulletin van het Koninklijk Instituut voor het Kunstpatrimonium publishes original articles on the history of the arts in current-day Belgium, the former Southern Netherlands, and the Principality of Liège, and their influence on Europe and the rest of the world. The journal focuses on the period from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century and takes a classic, object-oriented, monographic approach. It features innovative contributions in the area of connoisseurship, in so far as it is placed in a sociological, political and/or cultural context. The Bulletin de l’IRPA publishes articles in Dutch, French, and English. It is joining OpenEdition Journals with open access to its three latest issues.
