    The James Morris Essay Prize is awarded annually to the best essay in competition that demonstrates postcolonial critical approaches to architecture and the British Empire. The awarding of the prize acknowledges the complex connections between the built environment, urbanism, the British Imperial project and the legacies of colonialism and postcolonialism. The Society is keen to encourage the important body of work that traverses these fields.
