L’art de déjouer le mal. Savoirs et discours prophylactiques (xvie-xxe siècles)

The art of foiling the foul. Prophylactic knowledge and discourse (16th-20th century)
Edited by Jérôme Laubner and Dominique Brancher

The result of a study day held in Basel on 18 and 19 October 2019, this issue collects articles devoted to the question of prophylaxis from a diachronic point of view (16th to 20th century). Far from being limited to medicine, health preservation deserves to be analyzed at the crossroads between disciplines. The prophylactic precepts are studied from the point of view of their discourse, their ethical implications, their pragmatic effectiveness and the representations they convey of the powers of medicine and literature.
