Tahrir Documents (وثائق تحرير) is an initiative that ran from March 2011 to May 2012, aiming at archiving and translating into English activist papers from the 2011 Egyptian revolution. The editorial team of the website is a group of graduate students from the University of Chicago, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the University of Pennsylvania.  Sponsored by UCLA, the project is not affiliated with any political organization.

Materials archived in Tahrir documents are primarily flyers, newspapers and other ephemera collected on the occasion of demonstrations in Cairo’s Tahrir Square. Alongside to scans of the original documents, users will find their complete English translation.

Activist papers can be accessed by using the search box on the main page, or browsed by category: Revolution, Politics, Solidarity, Culture, Constitution, Regime and Religion. Results display as a list, including a thumbnail, the title and first few sentences of the paper in English translation. Clicking on either the image or the title opens the full notice: the scan of the original document which can be downloaded as a PDF is at the top of the page, and the English translation comes underneath.

The website is easy to navigate, and the searching and browsing features are very simple to use.

The Tahrir papers are available in both Arabic and English, but the website is in English only.
