Primarily sponsored by Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of International Migration, Ryerson University, and York University's Centre for Refugees Studies, the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM) connects academics, scholars, practitioners and policy-makers working on forced migration issues. Forced migrations whithin a country or across borders have become an equal concern to scholars, humanitarians, and governments, all trying to understand and adress at best migrants needs for protection and assistance.

To do so, IASFM created working groups aiming to facilitate further collaboration between members, three of which are currently active in different areas:

Since 1996, the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration has also been organizing biennial conferences providing "an interdisciplanary forum for intellectual exchange and communication between academics, scholars, practitioners and decision-makers." A report summarizing the discussions is issued after each meeting, submitted to the Journal of Refugee Studies, and made available on IASFM website.

It is possible to follow the association's activities via their listserv, YouTube channel, Facebook profile or LinkedIn group.

The website is in English.
