Presentation

América, bilingual, biannual and international magazine founded in 1987, publishes original contributions in Spanish or French on cultural fields in Latin America from the 19th to the 21st centuries. It is aimed at academics and anyone curious about Latin American cultures. Its thematic issues offer cross-disciplinary and transnational reflections on issues about cultural and political history, literature and the arts.

Editorial line

América’s analyses are rooted in the most current theoretical debates, with the aim of renewing reflection on the specificities and evolutions of cultural, literary, artistic and political practices in Latin America. Latin America is considered not only in terms of its internal dynamics, but also from the perspective of continental and transcontinental exchanges. For the sake of coherence and scientific quality, the themes of each issue are based on the respective programs of the triennial seminars and biennial colloquia of CRICCAL (Centre de Recherche sur les Champs Culturels en Amérique Latine). The theme of an issue may also be proposed by researchers, both inside and outside the team, interested in the multidisciplinary approach that characterizes the CRICCAL team. Each issue includes ten to fifteen articles, as well as a section of reviews of scientific works. A journal with an international dimension, América publishes contributions from Latin American researchers from all over the world. Writers, artists and specialists in other disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, history and comparative literature are occasionally invited to participate in CRICCAL’s work, and consequently to publish in América.

The team

América’s restricted editorial team consists of a managing editor, two co-editors, an editorial secretary and a technical expert. The team ensures editorial continuity, assisted by a 14-member editorial board, including 5 foreign members. The editorial team is in charge of the journal’s editorial policy and the thematic orientation of issues, in coordination with CRICCAL members and researchers responsible for specific issues. A 21-member Scientific Committee, made up of French and foreign personalities, ensures the journal’s national and international presence in its field.
