Introduction
Saint-Brandan is a French village halfway between Carhaix-Plouguer (Vorgium in the Gallo-Roman era, former capital of the Osismes, to the west) and Corseul (Fanum Martis, capital of the Coriosolites, to the east). Its location could therefore have made it an ancient ‘stopover’ village on the Roman road from Carhaix to Corseul. In September 2024, near recent archaeological discoveries, we used two complementary geophysical methods (differential magnetic and ground-penetrating radar - GPR) across an area of approximately 8 hectares, divided into several cultivated fields and pastures.
Methods
