The Manor houses project
GeoSphere Austria is part of the ongoing research project “Research Centre for Manors in the Baltic Sea Region”, lead by the University of Greifswald (Germany), which focuses on the digital recording and interdisciplinary investigation of manor houses and their estates in the Baltic Sea region from 1650 onwards. These estates have always been and continue to be a central part of the unique cultural landscape of the Baltic Sea region.
Over the course of the three-year funding period, research concentrated on selected 18th-century objects now located across nine countries: Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
