Introduction
In the summer of 2021, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology conducted a large scale magnetic prospection survey in the area of Jedenspeigen and Dürnkrut (Lower Austria). The survey area covered an area of 250 hectares along the River March, where numerous settlement sites from different periods were discovered. The preliminary results provided the basis for further investigations of the surrounding landscape, including a site catchment analysis (Walsh, 1999; Vita-Finzi & Higgs, 1970). The emphasis was directed towards the development of landscape models by correlating archaeological and environmental data.
