Introduction
The underwater archaeological landscapes of Austrian lakes hold invaluable records of prehistoric and historic cultural heritage (Trinks et al., 2019). Lakes such as Mondsee and Attersee are home to UNESCO World Heritage prehistoric (Neolithic and Bronze Age) pile dwellings (Dworsky et al., 2022), alongside a variety of other submerged archaeological remains, including logboats, car wrecks, and teleprinters, among others. In recent years, underwater archaeological prospection has evolved significantly, combining geophysical methods and direct observation to map and analyse these submerged sites in detail. Environmental and anthropogenic threats, such as invasive species, necessitate urgent action to document and protect the fragile cultural assets. This abstract outlines high-resolution image based modelling documentation applied to selected sites.
