Introduction

Archaeological prospection has increasingly benefited from advancements in near-surface geophysical methods. Among the prospection techniques, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has emerged under suitable ground conditions as the tool with highest spatial imaging resolution. However, conducting successful surveys in forested environments remains a significant challenge. Dense vegetation, uneven terrain, and limited visibility complicate data acquisition, while canopy cover often interferes with Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) positioning systems. These constraints pose difficulties in achieving precise georeferencing, which is essential for accurate archaeological prospection. The integration of Real-Time Kinematic GNSS (RTK-GNSS) technology with GPR in combination with the right point in time for the survey offers a promising solution to these challenges. The l...
