Background

The potential of Remote Sensing (RS) for archaeological surveying in terms of extracting significant information about both the subsurface and the landscape is well evidenced in recent work. Joint interpretation of aerial and ground-based remote sensing has been shown to enhance understanding of settlement characteristics and their relation to the environment. This study focuses on a multi-methodological analysis of the Hacılar Büyük Höyük site in south-western Anatolia (Burdur, Turkey), which is of crucial importance for understanding the Early Bronze Age I (c. 3100-2900 BC) in Anatolia (Umurtak & Duru, 2012; Duru, 2017). A detailed plan of the settlement on the mound exists already thanks to extensive long-term archaeological excavations.
