Guidelines for Authors

Editorial Process

The reading committee and the editor of the current issue (a different coordinator for each issue) select two reviewers for each article, either from the journal’s scientific committee or elsewhere, and in all cases specialists in the subjects covered. The anonymized articles are sent to the reviewers, who, after reading and completing the evaluation grid, indicate whether they recommend ‘publication as is’, conditional publication ‘after minor modifications’ or ‘after major modifications’, or definitive rejection. The author must take the reviewers’ recommendations into account and make the suggested changes. The editorial board and issue manager then evaluate the changes made and their concordance with the reviewers’ recommendations. In the case of minor changes, the article is not sent back for review; on the other hand, in the case of major changes, the article is again sent for review.

Rights Assignment

Authors who submit articles to Archipélies agree to publish them free of charge. They assign, on an exclusive basis, the paper and electronic distribution rights that enable the magazine to ensure free and open distribution, as well as sales on all media. Any proceeds from sales and subsidies are used exclusively for the operation and development of the magazine.

Terms and Conditions of Submission

The journal only accepts original, unpublished articles that have not been submitted to another journal. Research articles (between 30,000 and 60,000 characters, spaces included) must be syntheses or results of significant and original research. They must be clearly structured and include an introduction, at least two parts, a conclusion and bibliographical references. The bibliographical references must provide real support for the text.

Reading notes and symposium reports should be between 3,000 and 6,000 characters long (including spaces).

Sending and Files

Proposals should be sent to the coordinator of the current issue.

Text and tables should be delivered in Word format. Original files of illustrations must be delivered at the same time as the text in JPG format at 300 dpi for photographs (B&W and color). They must be accompanied by authorizations from the authors and/or image rights holders.

Articles in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Creole and German are accepted.

Text Formatting

References are grouped together at the end of the manuscript under the heading ‘Bibliography’. They should include all references mentioned in the text and all those indicated in the footnotes.

Entries are listed in alphabetical order, then in chronological order when there are several references for the same author.
