Abstracts
This paper attempts to sum up the question of the process of cultural interaction between the sites situated on both sides of the Hindu Kish in the course of the Chalcolithic and of the Bronze Age periods till the end of the first half of the third millennium BC, just before the occurrence of the Indus Civilisation. Such a question has been indeed largely dependent of the state of progress of the archaeological researches during the second half of the 20th century. The archaeological work conducted in Balochistan since the last forty years have shown that his region, as early as the Neolithic, was characterized by an obvious dynamism as far as the farming and craft activities were concerned. During the Chalcolithic period, in particular on a site such as Mehrgarh, a constant and cumulative process of technical innovations has been evidenced. Keeping into account such data, it is now possible to understand in a better way the various processes of interaction between sites in Central Asia and in Balochistan and on the western margins of the Indus Valley. Such relations which for quite a long time have been considered as the results of influences from the north to the south have now to be interpreted in the framework of multidirectional trends of exchanges.
