Le grenier grec de Samarkand
Abstracts
Between 1993 and 2004, the MAFOuz expedition conducted excavations near the Afrasiab mosque and uncovered the burnt remains of a monumental public building dating to the beginning of the Hellenistic period. It still contained huge quantities of cereals (millet and barley) and must have been a granary for the Greek garrison of Samarkand.
