Identités américaines
Defining American identity is an impossible task. Drawing on the fields of history, sociology, literature, literary theory, political science and linguistics, the essays gathered here demonstrate how relation and interaction can serve better than opposition and confrontation in the quest to define identities. Though this issue cannot hope to cover all aspects of American identity, it does demonstrate the centrality of the notion for American culture.
This issue is dedicated to Maurice Lévy who was the editor of Caliban for several years; a tribute to him ends the volume.
