For all manuscripts

The text of each article must be accompanied by the following elements:

• the title of the article in English and French: the title must be meaningful and as short as possible;

• an abstract in French and English (800 to 850 characters each, including spaces),

• 5 keywords (in each of these two languages) identifying the content of the article: these keywords ensure the best possible visibility and dissemination and must be chosen with care;

• a brief bio-bibliographical note about the author(s) in the form of a short paragraph (maximum 500 characters, including spaces), which should include at least the title, university affiliation, and discipline, and may present the main research topics related to the field of Cahiers Droit Sciences & Technologies, and maybe one or two recent bibliographical references or even multi- and interdisciplinary experiences (“First name Last name is... in... His/her research topics are...”);

• the postal address (preferably institutional, otherwise private) of the corresponding author,

• the email address of the corresponding author.

In addition to the title, the article must include clearly hierarchical subheadings that correspond to a rational organization of the ideas and elements presented.

Notes and bibliographical references

Bibliographical references for works and articles cited must be placed in footnotes.

The basic principles are to put:

• the name(s) of the author(s) in small capitals;

• the name of the work in italics, which, depending on the case, is either the title of the book or thesis, or the title of the journal, collection, or conference proceedings;

• the title in quotation marks when it is an article or chapter of a book;

• the rest of the relevant information in roman type (publisher, place, dates, volume, number, first page or article number, etc., not forgetting any URLs).

– for a journal article:

When citing a source, the page from which it is taken must always be specified.

For articles with multiple authors, it is suggested to use the formula et al. for more than four authors (Michael Schüpbach et al., “Neurosurgery in Parkinson disease: A distressed mind in a repaired body?”, Neurology, 2006, 66, p. 1811).

For references to articles or books that have already been cited in a previous note, it is recommended to use cited above (Jacques Chevallier, “Legal Doctrine and Legal Science,” cited above).

Quotations

- French quotation marks must be used: “...”

In the case of nested quotation marks, use English quotation marks inside: “...‘’...” Similarly, to avoid nested parentheses, use square brackets: (… […] …)

- Use square brackets when the quotation is cut, changed, or when a comment is inserted: “The quotation […] should then be presented as follows.”

- Highlight long quotations (more than approximately three lines): separate paragraph, left indentation, font size 10, no quotation marks.

Typographical rules

- Capital letters must be accented (À, É, È, Ê, etc.).

- Century numbers should be written in small capitals (1st century, 19th century), followed by an “e” in superscript (not 19th century).

- Ordinal numbers that appear in figures are followed by “er,” “re,” or ‘e’ as superscripts: 1st, 1st (not “1st”), 12th.

- A non-breaking space must be used between the number and the % sign (100%), as well as to separate thousands and millions (2,000, 10,000, 25,000,000).

Graphs, images, and tables

They must be numbered and referenced in the text where they are to be inserted. Table titles and graph captions must be clearly indicated.

Images must be free of copyright (or you must have negotiated the copyright rights in advance) and sent in 150 dpi format: jpeg, tyf, or png. Each illustration must be sourced, subtitled, and captioned. It must be sent separately from the article, in a separate file. In accordance with the European Directive of June 28, 2025 on accessibility standards, each image must be accurately described for visually impaired people.

The Cahiers Droit, Sciences & Technologies do not impose inclusive writing, but are open to this form of writing as long as it does not detract from the readability of the articles.
