Anchored in an interdisciplinary perspective, this issue brings together a series of contributions around the challenges faced by public intelligence agencies and their populations in perceiving the globalization of threats and dangers, and in particular terrorism. This thematic issue offers a fragmented landscape of the actual dynamic recompositions in the intelligence services, bureaucracies that were once secret and now held to a certain aggiornamento: on the one hand, opening themselves to the understanding of a world with more open information, a more competitive and more cooperative world on risks; on the other hand, accepting to get out of their singular exceptionalism, using the critical look of research into the concrete modalities of their "regalian" functioning.
