Published twice a year by Inalco and the association “Friends of the Cahiers de littérature orale”,  the journal is exclusively dedicated to oral productions from around the world. Two issues, or a double issue per year, explore a specific theme related to the arts of speech in their diversity. The journal primarily publishes original scientific articles and book reviews.

Am slam Gram! explores slam poetry as a contemporary art form of spoken word open to all, where genres and registers emerge at the intersection of various fields and disciplines. No French-language journal had yet dedicated a thematic issue to this space of expression. This has now been remedied with this issue of the Cahiers de littérature orale, which aims to explore its current forms, not only in terms of formats and modes of performance, but also in terms of publication venues. Through the poetic experiences presented, the journal addresses translation in multilingual performances, public eloquence workshops, ethics in hosting open mic events, postcolonial confrontation with other oral traditions, and resistance to social-political chaos. From a transdisciplinary perspective, this volume amplifies singular and collective voices, sometimes vulnerable, often agentive, navigating between Haiti and Reunion Island, France and the United States —the birthplace of slam poetry— via Italy and Germany.
