As an epistemological crossroads, material culture enables us to understand how the materiality of comics as cultural objects frames the relationship to the world of authors, readers and all the intermediaries involved in the production of meaning. From the historical poetics of the medium, to the problems of preserving and collecting physical objects, to the inclusion of comics in commercial multimedia uses: we're simply opening up the debate here, by suggesting some of the ways in which we might envisage a rematerialization of knowledge about comics.
