Haut de pageFinancing the journal
The Bulletin du Centre de recherche du château de Versailles is an electronic journal published continuously and year-round by the GIP-Centre de Recherche du Château de Versailles (CRCV), which is under the authority of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. The CRCV pays all the journal’s editorial costs (editorial secretary, layout and proofreading of articles, translation of texts and metadata, purchase of images, etc.). It employs professional translators and proofreaders.
The CRCV may receive financial support periodically from partner institutions, in particular for publications resulting from symposia, study days and seminars organized in collaboration with it.
Open access freemium
Since 2007, the Bulletin has been distributed via the OpenEdition portal, on the OpenEdition Journals platform. The Bulletin is part of the OpenEdition Freemium offer, a programme to develop open access academic publishing in the humanities and social sciences. This partnership, offered exclusively to institutions (libraries, campuses, research centres), aims to create an innovative and sustainable economic model. All of the revenue generated by this programme is reinvested in the development of open access, with two-thirds of it going to the journals and one-third to OpenEdition.
The Freemium income received annually by the Bulletin covers around 20 per cent of the annual cost of external services (translation, proofreading, purchase of images).
The HTML format of all Freemium journal publications is available in open access to all readers. The OpenEdition Freemium annual subscription to journals gives libraries and their users access to PDF (for articles) and ePub (for issues) formats, with no technical constraints (DRM) or download quotas. The subscription includes other associated services. The Freemium journals package is updated on 1 January each year.
Creative Commons licences
Unless otherwise stated, our publications are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. This licence authorizes a third party to reproduce and share a document, on condition that they credit the author and link to the publication, do not modify the document and do not use it for commercial purposes (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/deed.fr).
All article metadata (like all metadata on the OpenEdition platform) is placed under the CC0 licence (see the OpenEdition Licensing policy).
Archiving policy
In accordance with Article L. 533‒4 of the Research Code, resulting from Article 30 of the Law of 7 October 2016 for a Digital Republic, and since this is a non-exclusive transfer of copyright, authors have the right to place the final version of their manuscript accepted for publication in an open electronic repository.
In agreement with OpenEdition Journals, and with the permission of co-authors, we authorize that the publisher’s PDF version be held exclusively in an open archive, under the CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 international licence, as soon as it appears in the Bulletin.
When promoting their work outside the open archive, particularly through social networks, academic social networks (Academia.edu, ResearchGate, etc.) and personal and/or institutional websites, we recommend that authors use a hyperlink to refer to their publication in the open archive.
Author’s contract
Once an article has been accepted, the author signs a non-exclusive copyright transfer contract, free of charge, authorizing the CRCV to publish the article in the Bulletin.
The author thereby guarantees that her or his article is thus far unpublished, with the exception of extracts borrowed from other works or illustrations for which permission to reproduce has been obtained. The author also guarantees in this contract that the article neither infringes any copyright nor contains scandalous, defamatory or confidential material likely to contravene the law.
Formats, protocols and citability
Each text published in the Bulletin is given a unique and permanent Internet address (URL), which serves as a reference for citation in scholarly works.
The OpenEdition Journals portal uses Lodel electronic publishing software and the following standardized formats, languages and protocols:
-
XML TEI;
-
Dublin Core for metadata;
-
RSS feeds for syndication;
-
OAI-PMH protocol (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting), a metadata exchange protocol designed to facilitate the exchange of metadata between data providers and service providers (libraries, documentation centres, thematic portals, etc.). The OpenEdition OAI-PMH repository, accessible to all, contains all the documents available on the four OpenEdition platforms. The data is in Dublin Core (DC) and METS (Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard) formats: http://oai.openedition.org;
-
Digital Object Identifier (DOI), assigned to each article published in the Bulletin;
-
Automatic identification of bibliographical references by Bilbo software.
