Cybergeo published its thousandth article on December 10th 2021. Christine Kosmopoulos has counted the number of views recorded for each of these articles by OpenEdition's statistics, for the first ten months of the year 2021. It is not a question here of drawing up a list of the most consulted articles. We know that these numbers fluctuate a lot from one year to another and we will not risk producing a random ranking. We have too often deplored the excesses of quantitative bibliometrics to indulge in this vain exercise that fascinates certain so-called "scientific" social networks! However, a quick exploration of this table brings some interesting elements to qualify our editorial policy and measure some aspects of its reception by our readers.

A first observation is the extreme diversity of subjects and issues that appear among the most read articles, be it the 10 articles that have been consulted more than 5000 times, or the 100 articles that have received more than 2000 views. For the latter, the most consulted sections are Spaces, societies, territories and Environment, nature, landscapes, with 26 and 19 articles. Four other sections (Planning and urbanism; Politics, culture, representations; Epistemology and history of geography; Systems, modeling, geostatistics) each have about 10 highly viewed articles, while about 20 highly viewed articles are related to cartography or "Transversalities" (debates and reviews). Climate change, social segregation, economy, culture, territory, borders, geohistory... the subjects that have sharpened the interest of readers are related to all epistemological orientations and all fields of the discipline, without privileging some. Our policy as a generalist journal is thus confirmed, without exclusivity; Cybergéo is not a fashion journal!

These thousand articles also constitute a durable heritage. This can be judged by the staggered dates of publication, always among these 100 most frequently consulted articles. Half of these consultations concern articles published since the 2010 decade (about ten for the 2020 decade) but a quarter of the articles published in the 2000s have still been visited more than 200 times, as have about ten of those published in the 1990s. The texts put online since the creation of the journal are thus guaranteed to find a new readership at any time. Two thirds of the articles are consulted more than once a day on average! Moreover, the least read text has been seen ten times in ten months, and most of those that have received less than 100 views are texts that testify to our archiving function. They are mainly texts that have marked the scientific life through debates, editorials or old reviews.

Of particular interest is the originality of our open science policy, which is also a reproducible science. The 9 or so articles published since 2018 in the Data Papers section have each received more than 500 views in 2021, the most consulted one, published in 2020, has been viewed nearly 3000 times. The 17 articles published since 2014 in the GeOpenMod section, whose audience is a priori more restricted, have each received between 100 and 1500 views.

Let us thank once again all the people who ensure the success of the journal and its authors through their demanding and generous work. We wish everyone a happy holiday season and an excellent 2022 year, hoping that it will bring you more reasons to rejoice in the state of the world.
