Publication and evaluation charter for articles in the eJRIEPS journal
In order to ensure the integrity of scientific research, the eJRIEPS journal implements the ethical rules set out in this statement. This document is based on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity developed by All European Academies (ALLEA), the opinions of the CNRS Ethics Committee (Comets), documents produced by the Committee for Open Science, and the charters of other journals.
1. Submission of an article
The eJRIEPS journal follows the ethical rules relating to scientific publishing.
As such, authors must certify that:
-
their article is original and has not been submitted or published in any other publication medium;
-
the research reported in the article has been conducted in accordance with the ethics of research in the humanities and social sciences;
-
where applicable, the sources of funding for the research are mentioned (ANR, DEPP, laboratories, etc.);
-
the illustrations included in the article are identified by their legal source. The journal will ensure that all procedures relating to the rights of use, reproduction, and distribution of these illustrations on the OpenEdition platform have been completed, and may request proof of this;
-
written authorization for distribution has been obtained from individuals who are recognizable in an illustration in the article, or that blurring has been applied in other cases.
In the case of a submission signed by several authors, the lead author guarantees that the co-authors have read the charter and that they have approved the submitted version and then the final version of the article accepted for publication (as applicable).
Published articles are the sole responsibility of their authors.
2. Review process
The article evaluation policy (for miscellaneous articles and thematic issues) is based on at least a double-blind peer review process, which is only initiated if the article has been deemed acceptable (see below).
For miscellaneous articles, admissibility and double peer review are organized by the editorial board.
For articles in a thematic issue, admissibility and double peer review are organized by the issue coordinators in consultation with a member of the editorial board.
Anonymization is carried out at each stage and concerns both the names of the authors and the reviewers.
The journal undertakes to send authors the results of the evaluation within a maximum of 6 months from receipt of the article.
During this period, authors agree not to submit their text for publication elsewhere.
After this period, if the article is rejected and provided that they inform the journal, authors may submit their text to another publication.
The review process is a peer review that aims to be rigorous, supportive, constructive, and transparent. The comments made by the reviewers should provide food for thought for authors in their future work. Personal comments and criticism or hurtful remarks about the content of the text are not acceptable. The reviewers' opinions must be clear, well-argued, and respectful of the author.
The review process consists of the following steps:
-
A preliminary review by the editorial board to ensure that the article is in line with the journal's editorial policy and complies with the journal's style guide and standards. The authenticity and originality of the article will be verified using plagiarism detection software. Any proposals received that do not sufficiently meet the scientific requirements and standards of the journal will not be accepted. The author will be notified within 15 days.
-
Double-blind peer review is organized by the journal's editorial board (for Varia articles) or the coordinators of the thematic issue. It is entrusted to two experts chosen from within or outside the editorial board.
-
An independent, double-blind review by experts appointed by the journal's editorial board. Four types of opinion may be given: accepted as is, accepted with minor changes, accepted with major changes, or rejected. In the event of conflicting opinions, a third expert will be consulted before the editorial board makes a decision.
-
The expert reports are then sent to the author, who has two months to submit a new version of the article based on the experts' comments and suggestions. The author is also expected to attach a separate file (text or table) explaining their responses to the experts.
-
A second round of peer review (with the same experts) is then initiated for the second version.
The experts use the following evaluation grid for scientific articles:

For articles submitted under the heading “Perspectives on Intervention
,” experts use the grid below. This section allows authors who have not chosen academic research to submit their work and share their thoughts. However, this requires minimal precautions in terms of reproducibility and evaluation of the work. This is therefore not an assessment based on the expectations of a scientific article, but rather an assessment that attests to the interest and rigor of work on educational intervention in the field of physical education and sports.|

3. Final proofreading and “ready to print”
The journal reserves the right to make editorial changes to any text accepted for publication for the purposes of stylistic correction or terminological clarification.
These formal changes will be systematically submitted to the author for review, validation, and approval: the journal thus undertakes to send authors a “ready to print” for final correction and verification.
In the event of disagreement and as a last resort, the journal will make the final decision on these formal aspects.
Once the publication has been validated by the journal, the article is posted online on the OpenEdition platform.
No changes may be requested after this online publication.
4. Distribution conditions
The eJRIEPS journal publishes free of charge, with immediate access open to all on the OpenEdition platform and under the Creative Commons CC BY license.
By submitting an article to the journal, authors agree to publication under these conditions.
The journal and the authors mutually agree in advance to inform each other of any reuse, reproduction, or translation they wish to make of the published articles.
5. Depositing in open archives
The journal encourages authors to deposit the final version of their article in PDF format, generated on the journal's website, in open archives such as HAL.
