1I am honoured to have been elected as chair of the Société de Stylistique et d’Analyse des Discours Anglophones (SSADA) and editor-in-chief of Études de Stylistique Anglaise (ESA) in September 2025. I would like to thank the members of the SSADA for trusting me with these positions and my predecessors and for having contributed with such determination and conviction to making our association thrive. In particular, I would like to express my most sincere gratitude to Manuel Jobert (Université Jean Moulin - Lyon 3) for showing me the way to the SSADA when I was just beginning my PhD, to Sandrine Sorlin (Université Paul Valéry Montpellier 3) for welcoming me as secretary in 2014 and for her continued confidence and support throughout the years, and to Julie Neveux (Sorbonne Université) for trusting me as Vice Chair and co-editor of ESA from 2021 to 2025. I would also like to thank Laurent Rouveyrol (Sorbonne Nouvelle Université), Florence Floquet (Université Paul Valéry Montpellier 3) and Sigolène Vivier (Université d’Artois) for joining me on the board for the next four years; the first few months of that collaboration have been highly encouraging, marked by a spirit of mutual trust and collegiality. ESA’s editorial committee deserves a special thank you for agreeing, year after year, to review articles and for thereby making the publication of ESA’s annual issue possible. Finally, I am grateful to our sister association, Société des Anglicistes de l’Enseignement Supérieur (SAES), for participating in the financial support of our journal.

2I am very proud to chair an association that I joined as a young researcher and that participated in shaping the stylistician that I am today. I firmly believe in the role that the SSADA plays as a bridge between diverse areas of research in Anglophone Studies, both in France and internationally. Our focus on stylistics and the analysis of discourses places us at the crossroads of the traditional fields of literature, civilisation and linguistics that are usually considered as the pillars of our discipline. Perhaps more importantly, our position allows us to extend beyond these fields to encompass the study of all kinds of discourses, be they specialised discourses, literary productions from a wide range of periods and cultural contexts, historical and political discourses, oral and written corpora, digital communication, media studies, etc. The backbone of both our association and our journal lies in methodologies grounded in linguistics and discourse analysis, which enable us to uncover discursive strategies in all their variety. I am a committed stylistician who firmly believes in the importance of looking beyond disciplinary boundaries and exploring the many paths that intersect across fields, even when, or rather especially when they lead us along unexpected routes towards unfamiliar and uncharted intellectual territory. It is this central, connective role that allows our workshop and our journal to combine eclecticism with rigour, creating a particularly rich environment for scholarly exchange. I am committed to ensuring that our annual workshop remains a congenial and welcoming space for scholarly exchange; new participants are always welcome, including young researchers who will find a friendly space to present their findings.

3The next couple of years shall be marked by major events for the SSADA. Lyon 3 will host the annual PALA (Poetics and Linguistics Association) conference in July 2027. This event will be an opportunity for English stylistics in France to continue contributing to this precious international partnership. Moreover, 2028 will mark the 50th anniversary of our association; it will provide an opportunity to reflect on fifty years of stylistic research in France and to celebrate the remarkable development of our field. Let me also remind you that guest editors are encouraged to submit proposals for special issues of ESA. As issue dedicated to Irish writer Claire Keegan is being edited by Pádraic Lamb (Université Jean Monnet de Saint-Etienne) and Claire Majola-Leblond (Université Jean Moulin - Lyon 3) and shall be published in 2027. Stay tuned for more surprises to come!

4I will conclude by wishing the SSADA and our journal, ESA, a thriving and exciting few years. May young and more experienced researchers find inspiration in our publications and in the exchanges fostered by the SSADA.
