Publication ethics

Peer Review

The journal Études sur le XVIIIe siècle fully adheres to the principle of peer review, which guarantees the integrity of scientific research and the resulting publications. The journal welcomes unpublished articles only.

Thematic Issues

Each issue is placed under the scientific responsibility of the researcher(s) responsible for its scientific coordination. The researcher(s) send(s) to the Editorial Board a presentation of the proposed thematic issue (one- to two-page argument with indicative bibliography and table of contents). The proposal is read and evaluated by the Editorial Board, which decides whether or not it is suitable for publication. Authors send an outline of their article (maximum 300 words) and a short biography (brief CV and description of research areas, maximum 5 lines), in French or English. The scientific quality and relevance of the proposal to the theme of the special issue will be assessed by its scientific coordinator.

Doble-Blind Peer Review

All articles submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer review process. The identity of the author is not communicated to the reviewers; conversely, authors are not informed of the identity of the reviewers. Reviewers are chosen by the journal's board of directors and editorial board, with the help of members of the editorial board and reading committee. Reviewers are chosen on the basis of their competence, and are appointed in such a way as to avoid any conflict of interest arising from personal or professional collaborations with the authors whose manuscripts they review. They are committed to confidentiality and to respecting the intellectual property of the authors. Articles are reviewed within two months. On the basis of the written and anonymized evaluations, the journal management decides whether the article is accepted as is, accepted with minor modifications, accepted with major modifications (with a new review) or rejected. Contentious cases are handled by the management and the editorial board. Only the management and the editorial secretariat are authorized to communicate the results of the review to the authors.
