Études balkaniques is devoted to interdisciplinary research into the Hellenic and Balkan worlds in a diachronic perspective. The journal publishes a yearly thematic issue bringing together contributions from international specialists. It also includes a section for proposals from young researchers. The journal was founded in 1994 by the Association Pierre Belon, an association of historians, many of whom were members of the Centre for Byzantine, post-Byzantine and South-East European studies at the EHESS. The journal is supported by the École française in Athens.
