Editorial team

Director

• Martial Monteil
University Professor – Nantes Université
CReAAH (UMR 6566), Nantes (FR)

The director represents Gallia and ensures that the journal runs smoothly and efficiently, in accordance with the decisions agreed upon by the editorial committee. The director is responsible for establishing the agenda for editorial board meetings, for managing interactions with authors submitting manuscripts, and for designating specialists charged with evaluations. The director maintains contacts with representatives of the CNRS and the Ministry of Culture, as well as with CNRS Editions and the management of MSH Mondes. Alongside the editorial staff, the director develops and directs the process of fabrication for the journal.

The director is appointed from within the editorial committee during the final year of the soon-to-be former director’s mandate. If no candidate comes forward, the director may be chosen externally. In this case, their appointment is subject to the opinion of said committee. The term of office is for a duration of 4 years, and is renewable once.

Editorial committee

The editorial committee is composed of the journal’s director and 14 members recognized for their scientific achievements and abilities. Future members are chosen by the director and the pre-existing editorial committee. This process takes into consideration the need for: a renewal, every 4 years, of at least one-third of the participants; a distribution, as homogeneous as possible, between chronological periods of study, specialties and institutions of affiliation; the inclusion of 1 or 2 foreign members; and the pursuit of parity between the sexes within the committee. The editorial board meets in plenary session, twice a year. Its role is to decide on the editorial policy and general thematic orientations for the journal, as well as to encourage manuscript proposals and to select volume and supplementary content to be published based on the opinions of the committee and its delegated experts. Furthermore, the responsibility for any and all decisions deemed necessary to the proper scientific and administrative functioning of Gallia lies with the committee, as does ensuring the scientific quality of the texts published by the journal and of its editorial policy.

The term length for members is 4 years, and is renewable, provided the member maintains regular activity. The director and committee may appoint a new member in the event of a resignation, or of an absence from more than two consecutive plenary meetings, without valid justification.
