Presentation

The quarterly journal Géomorphologie : relief, processus, environnement welcomes contributions on geomorphology in its broadest sense: landforms at all scales, landforms and processes of all kinds.

It publishes articles exploring the relationship between geomorphology and related disciplines: physical geography, human geography, archaeology, ecology, Earth and planetary sciences, and those concerned with the natural environment. Experimental studies, modelling and methodological presentations are just as welcome as naturalistic analyses based on field observations. Thematic updates are welcome, provided they are announced as such, as are reviews of books or scientific meetings and “open forums”. Short articles are also welcome.

The journal is indexed in Cybergeo, Geo-Ref, Pascal-Francis, Science Citation Index Expanded and Journal Citation Reports (Science Edition). Since 2010, it has had an impact factor (Wef of Science - Thomson Reuters) (https://journals.openedition.org/geomorphologie/11224).

Field of investigation

The aim of Geomorphology: relief, processes, environment is to bring together scientific findings in the field defined in its title. Geomorphology is the discipline whose aim is to describe and explain landforms at all scales, from microforms to megaforms, and to study the processes of all kinds that shape them and the mechanisms that generate them. It also addresses current environmental issues, such as the causes and impact of natural hazards, how to take account of natural constraints in land-use planning, and the consequences of natural and man-made changes on the environment.

The journal welcomes contributions on all aspects of geomorphology, in its broadest sense (structural, zonal or climatic geomorphology, dynamic geomorphology; study of current or inherited landforms and landforms). It publishes articles analyzing the relationship between geomorphology and related disciplines: physical geography, human geography, archaeology, earth and planetary sciences, environmental sciences. It also publishes thematic updates, reviews of books and scientific meetings, and “free” articles.

Objectives and readership

The aim of Géomorphologie : relief, processus, environnement is to communicate scientific advances, disseminate new research findings and present work such as that leading to quantification and modelling, without neglecting more traditional approaches, notably field studies. It is open to all contributions, in a scientific field that is constantly evolving and expanding.

This journal is intended to provide readers with the most comprehensive and up-to-date information possible. It is primarily aimed at researchers and practitioners working in the fields of geomorphology and geography, and at those who teach these disciplines, from high school to university. It is also of interest to anyone studying the Earth's epidermis and its relations with other environmental components. It has its place in university libraries and research laboratories.

The journal is committed to promoting the use of the French language (the Reading and Editorial Committees also ensure quality of expression) and to disseminating the work of the French-speaking community within an international community that is largely English-speaking.

The journal is a French-language publication, but it also welcomes texts in English. Articles in French are necessarily accompanied by an abstract and an abridged version in English, intended to give non-French-speaking readers the essential content of the articles; articles in English include an abstract and an abridged version in French. The journal is therefore largely bilingual.

Double-blind evaluation procedure

Articles are sent to the journal's secretariat. A first reading is carried out by Editor-in-Chief Laurent Astrade, who checks that the texts meet the formal requirements of the journal. The reviewers are then chosen in consultation with the journal's associate editors, on the basis of their expertise. Articles are then sent anonymously to at least two external referees. An evaluation form is provided to the referees by the journal. A third referee is called in if the two reviewers do not agree. Within a period of two to three months, the authors.
