Instructions for Authors

Editorial Guidelines

Submitting an article for publication in an issue of the ILCEA journal implies acceptance by the author of the following conditions:

  • the author grants UGA Éditions a non-exclusive licence to use his/her work or contribution and authorises the distribution of the final published version of his/her contribution in open access under the Creative Commons CC‑BY‑SA 4.0 licence (or, if applicable, a more recent version of this licence): a non‑exclusive rights assignment contract will be sent to the author if publication is accepted;

  • in case some material (text, photography, sketch…) has been borrowed from a book or article, the author must obtain the necessary permissions in advance and submit them at the same time as his/her typewritten text;

  • 50,000 characters at the most per article (notes, bibliography, abstracts, keywords and spaces included), with no line breaks between paragraphs. For information, an issue must comprise between 360,000–400,000 characters (spaces included) and 650,000 characters at most (introduction, foreword, articles, reviews, abstracts and keywords included); this amounts to approximately 8–12 articles per issue.

Use of artificial intelligence (AI)

The author may use generative artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies in the process of writing without mentioning it, only if it is used to punctually improve the language and style of the contribution. Any other use of AI in the elaboration of a text must be explicitly and transparently mentioned at the beginning of the article. This use must also be expressly authorized by the editorial board of the journal before the article is accepted for publication. In that case, the use of these technologies must be declared in a note by the author of the published work.

Our journal does not allow the use of generative AI tools to create, modify or manipulate the data and results of research. The use of technology is under the control of the author, who must carefully review and edit the results, for AI can generate incorrect, incomplete or biased results. The author is ultimately responsible for the scientific quality, the accuracy and the integrity of the information in his article.

The author is also meant to ensure that the work is original and does not infringe the rights of others. In consequence, and as a precaution, the use of AI to generate illustrations (or even slightly correct existing images) is not authorized, in order to limit uncertainties as to their use and not to infringe—even unintentionally—copyright.

Elements to be provided by authors

A digital version of the article (Word file) formatted within the time frame specified by the coordinator.

The title of the article, an abstract and keywords in French and English, as well as in the language in which the article was written if it is not in French or English.

The author must indicate his or her surname, first name, title and affiliation in French and, if applicable, in the language of the article.

Quotation of bibliographical references in the text

Author + year of publication + pages if relevant preceded by two periods, all in brackets:

One might think that “statistics being applied…” (Dabene, 1994: 173).

According to the theories of action and activity advanced/put forward by ergonomists, “activity relies […] on the basis of local interactions, in a particular context and material circumstances” (Darses, Falzon & Munduteguy, 2004: 197).

If the author's name appears in the sentence, just date + page(s) in brackets:

According to Genouvrier and Peytard, “statistical surveys show [...] that the language uses a periphrastic for two simple futures” (1970 : 27).

Notes

Footnotes will be numbered in Arabic numerals.

They are expected to help clarify the text. Avoid notes which are too long. Do not use them for tables or long quotations.

In English, the note reference mark is always placed after the punctuation mark (. , ; : ! ? ”).

Statistical data shows that language uses a circumlocution for two simple futures.1

Bibliography/Works cited

Bibliographic references of quotations should appear in brackets in the text, as a cross-reference to the bibliography at the end of the article.

Only the references cited in the text should be listed at the end of the article.

Bibliographic references are listed in alphabetical order of authors’ names, then in chronological order of the year of publication (from the earliest to the most recent). For references without an author and collaborative works, the title should be placed first and such works should be ranked by considering the first letter of the first significant word of the title. The mention “Anonymous” is not accepted.
