Presentation

A journal founded by young researchers in the humanities and social sciences.

The journal was founded in 2009 as a result of the joint desire of advanced students and young researchers in philosophy to provide a forum for presenting the results of their research. The journal was designed to meet the demand from young researchers for greater visibility for their scientific output. The original editorial team included students from the universities of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris 4 Paris-Sorbonne, EHESS and the ENS de Paris.

Today, the journal remains faithful to this initial mission, but has broadened its scope over the years to bring together “novice” professional research and established research. The editorial team is essentially made up of young researchers, and the coordination of thematic dossiers is entrusted primarily to young researchers, most often doctoral or post-doctoral students.

The articles published on Implications philosophiques are extremely well referenced on the Internet, giving their authors maximum visibility. Its ambition is to cover current philosophical issues through the production of research articles and book reviews.

An innovative editorial concept

The journal makes its own contribution to the debate on ideas. Its main aim is to promote knowledge and intellectual debate.

Implications philosophiques is freely available on the Internet. The journal is made up of issues built around a dossier, articles and reviews. The aim of the journal is to promote the dissemination of philosophy, by offering articles for the academic public (students and researchers) as well as for anyone who feels the need to think about the world.

The editorial team deals with many unsolicited requests from outside authors. Our aim is to give theoretical work a serious and rapid response. Combining the rigour of external, double-blind evaluation with publication as quickly as possible is a significant advantage.

Free access to knowledge

Implications philosophiques is convinced that philosophy has a role to play in the development of thought and in helping people to make better choices in the world, and has therefore decided to remain accessible free of charge. The journal is clearly an alternative to pay sites, which try to turn philosophy into a banal consumer item or limit its scope.

A platform for dissemination and exchange

Implications philosophiques seeks to give a voice to a new generation of researchers, and above all to promote a lively practice of philosophy in relation to the contemporary world. The choice of electronic publication allows us to reduce costs and to be read by all those interested, wherever they are in the world. That's why the journal's publications are complemented by a discussion space on its various social networks, providing a lively forum for philosophical reflection. This forum for exchange allows us to feed debates with well-argued reactions from readers.

Pluralism and interdisciplinarity

All intellectual approaches are encouraged, as long as they remain open to dialogue and discussion.

The editorial line adopted by the editors seeks to encourage, particularly through the use of special features, the multiplicity of perspectives brought to bear by different disciplines on the same theme: the journal is resolutely geared towards the convergence of disciplines. The aim is to understand and attempt to enrich the conception of philosophy and the role it should play today. The journal does not aim to illustrate any particular theory or school of thought.

Nevertheless, interdisciplinarity remains one of the distinctive features of the journal, which places philosophy at the confluence of the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
