Le développement en question en Polynésie française
Abstracts
The case of French Polynesia is particularly adapted to apprehend through an anthropological approach the divergent conceptions of development. A dilemma often met by the local persons in charge, in particular in the islands, is indeed to reconcile the western ideas of development with the collective logic very important in Polynesia. However, a true development cannot avoid to think the concepts used. This article points cultural dimension underlying the issue of development in French Polynesia, in particular the mòhi ma’ohri views of time, space, nature and the community. It also offers some directions of reflexionreflexion to take into account when deciding the cultural policies of the local development.
