A List of Daphne du Maurier’s Published Short Stories, in order of their first known publication
Texte intégral
1Notes:
2(1) The eighteen stories marked with an asterisk were later published in Daphne du Maurier, Early Stories, London: Todd, 1954 (without any illustrations) and 1955 (with black-and-white illustrations).
3(2) If a story happens to have been given an alternative title, that other title is quoted in square brackets.
4(3) The name of The Saturday Review of Politics, Literature, Science and Art has been shortened to The Saturday Review below.
5(4) In Come Wind, Come Weather (London: Heinemann, 1940), du Maurier also published eleven inspirational, morale-boosting tales in support of Britain’s war effort. Only ten stories were included in the first edition of August 1940, namely “The Admiralty Regrets…,” “George and Jimmy,” “Over the Ration Books,” “A Nation's Strength,” “A Miner's Tale,” “Physician, Heal Thyself,” “Spitfire Megan,” “The Revolutionary,” “London, 1940?” and “Mrs. Hill and the Soldiers.” An eleventh story, entitled “In a London Air-Raid Shelter,” was added when a “New and Revised” edition came out in November of the same year.
