En Angleterre, le Conservateur David Cameron mène un gouvernement de coalition de 2010 à 2015. Les Conservateurs sont ensuite seuls au pouvoir avec à leur tête David Cameron jusqu’en 2016, Theresa May de 2016 à 2019 et Boris Johnson de 2019 à 2022. En Écosse, le parti est dans l’opposition, mené par Annabel Goldie jusqu’en 2011, Ruth Davidson de 2011 à 2019 et Jackson Carlaw de 2019 à 2020.
Dans cet article, le niveau scolaire est défini comme le niveau atteint par les élèves du primaire et du secondaire en anglais et en mathématiques (literacy and numeracy standards), que ce niveau soit fondé sur la perception des compétences des élèves ou sur leurs résultats à des évaluations standardisées.
