Quaderni di Sociologia publishes only original, unpublished manuscripts. Submission of a manuscript to the journal constitutes a declaration by the author(s) that the work has not been previously published.

The submission of a manuscript, as well as the selection and review process, must comply with the guidelines established by the publisher and inspired by the recommendations of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). Authors are required to read the publisher's Code of Ethics (https://www.rosenbergesellier.it/ita/informativa/codice-etico).

The journal publishes manuscripts in Italian, English, French, and Spanish.

Submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the Editors and subsequently subjected to peer review by two anonymous referees. The journal undertakes to communicate the outcome of the review process to authors within four months of receipt of the manuscript.

Manuscripts proposed for publication must be sent to paola.borgna@unito.it in Microsoft Word format (or another commonly used word-processing format) and PDF. The name(s), institutional affiliation(s), address(es), telephone number(s), and email address(es) of the author(s) must be clearly indicated.

For the purposes of anonymous peer review, authors must also submit a version of the manuscript from which all references that could reveal the author's identity have been removed.

The Editorial Board will consider only manuscripts that comply with the following editorial guidelines:

1. Articles must be accompanied by an abstract of approximately 10 lines in Italian and an abstract of approximately 10 lines in English (the title must also be translated).

2. The file must include the total number of characters (including spaces). As a general rule, articles intended for the sections La società contemporanea and Teoria e ricerca must not exceed 50,000 characters (including spaces), corresponding to approximately 25 standard pages of 2,000 characters each. Articles intended for other sections must not exceed 18,000 characters (including spaces).

3. Notes relating to each article must be inserted as footnotes.

4. Figures, tables, and graphs must be submitted as separate files in editable source format. The manuscript must clearly indicate where they are to be inserted.

5. References must be cited directly in the text, indicating only the author's surname, year of publication, and, where appropriate, page number(s), as follows: Simmel (1908); or (Simmel, 1908); or (Simmel, 1908, 225). Where there are more than two authors, the abbreviation et al. may be used.
   At the end of the manuscript, references must be listed alphabetically by author's surname and, for each author, in chronological order of publication. For works by the same author published in the same year, the designations a, b, c should be used. In the case of multi-authored works, the surnames of all authors must be reported. For edited works, the editor's name should be followed by the designation (ed.) (or the corresponding expression in the language of publication).
   References should follow the style illustrated by the examples below:

   In addition to the titles of books, essays, and articles, encyclopedia entries, titles of laws, and conference proceedings should also be italicized. All periodicals (including newspapers) should appear in roman type and be enclosed in guillemets (« »). City names should be given in their original language and, as in the examples above, should precede the publisher's name. Capitalization in titles should follow the original source.

6. Additional recommendations and conventions:
   Sections and subsections must be numbered.
   The use of italics should be limited, and neither underlining nor boldface should be used. Italics are reserved for foreign words (except those that have entered common usage), words requiring emphasis, titles of books and articles cited in the text, section headings (subsection headings should be in roman type), and the titles of figures, tables, and graphs. The names of associations, institutions, and similar bodies, including foreign ones, should appear in roman type and not in italics.
   In the text, notes, and references, authors' names should not be written entirely in capital letters.
   Figures, tables, and graphs should be referred to in full in the text (e.g., "as can be seen in Figure 1") or in abbreviated form within parentheses (e.g., "(Fig. 1)").
   Use guillemets (« ») for quotations from other authors; use English quotation marks (" ") for words or expressions used figuratively or metaphorically.
   Acronyms should use standard upper- and lower-case forms (e.g., Usa, Oecd).
   When referring to the same work cited in the previous note, use ivi, followed by the page number (e.g., ivi, 31); use ibidem when referring not only to the same work but also to the same page.
   Use p. and pp. instead of pag. and pagg.; s. and ss. instead of seg. and segg.; chap. and chaps.; fig. and figs.; vol. and vols.; no. and nos.; etc.

7. Any use of Artificial Intelligence tools in the preparation of the manuscript submitted for publication must be declared transparently and in detail within the manuscript itself.

8. Upon acceptance for publication, authors will receive a publication authorization form together with the proofs and must return it signed along with the corrected proofs.

9. Proofs must be returned no later than the date specified by the publisher in the accompanying correspondence. The typographical cost of any author corrections exceeding the correction of typographical errors will be charged to the author. Such corrections will be made only after the relevant agreement has been signed.

10. Authors of published articles will receive a PDF file of the journal issue in which their article appears, as well as a PDF file of their individual article.
