Estatuto editorial (en inglés)
The Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais (RCCS), founded in 1978 and published three times a year, is the journal of the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra, dedicated to presenting the results of advanced research in all fields of the social and human sciences. It favours articles with a transdisciplinary approach which contribute to theoretical discussion, epistemological thinking and a critical understanding of contemporary reality on a global scale. The RCCS accepts submissions relating to all geographical contexts, with a particular focus on studies which contribute to theoretical and epistemological innovations from the global South.
The RCCS aims to play a key role in promoting civic epistemologies, practices, processes and policies that foster justice, solidarity and social emancipation.
The journal publishes thematic and non-thematic issues, the latter guest-edited by renowned researchers from different fields, in Portuguese, Spanish and English. All submissions are subjected to a double-blind peer review.
The process of accepting manuscripts for publication is guided by the criteria of relevance, interest and scientific quality, whilst respecting different points of view. The RCCS is independent of any ideological, political or economic agenda and is guided by rigour, impartiality and honesty.
Committed to ensuring the highest standards of ethics in its publication, the principles of the RCCS editorial team are contained in its “Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement”, based on the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines produced by the Standards Committee of Editors on Ethics in Publishing - COPE, available at http://rccs.revues.org/5601. This text defines the responsibilities of all the parties involved publishing the RCCS, specifically the editor, editorial board, guest editors, authors, reviewers and publisher.
The Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais is available in print and also in open access format from Revues.org, at http://rccs.revues.org/. The “Guidelines for Submission and Publication of Manuscripts” are available for both versions, as well as an annual list with information on the reviewers from different countries.
The high quality and rigor of the criteria observed by the Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais is reflected in its indexation on several international databases such as Scopus, SciELO, Web of Science-Thomson Reuters (via the SciELO Citation Index), CAPES-Qualis, ERIH Plus, Sociological Abstracts, the International Bibliography of the Social Sciences, and EBSCO, among others. The RCCS is also part of the Eurozine network and is registered in the Directory of Open Access Journals.
The RCCS Editorial Board (cf. http://rccs.revues.org/1661) undertakes to comply with the Portuguese Press Law and the deontological principles and ethics that oversee scientific research, as cited in this Editorial Policy, and to respect the good faith of its readers.
