About the journal

Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais (RCCS), a journal of the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, publishes three times a year the results of advanced research in all fields of the social and human sciences. It favours works with a transdisciplinary approach which contribute to theoretical discussion, epistemological thinking, and critical knowledge about contemporary reality on a global scale. RCCS accepts submissions about all geographical contexts, giving special attention to studies which specially contribute to theoretical and epistemological innovation coming from the global South. The journal publishes in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

RCCS publishes non-thematic and thematic issues, the last ones guest-edited by renowned researchers from different fields. All submissions are subjected to double-blind peer review.

The open access journal Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais is part of the network Eurozine and is indexed in Scopus, SJR – SCImago Journal and Country Rank, Web of Science-Clarivate Analytics (Emerging Sources Citation Index - ESCI and SciELO Citation Index), SciELO, Qualis-CAPES, DOAJ, ERIH Plus, EBSCO, Francis, International Bibliography of the Social Sciences, Latindex, Pascal, Sudoc, Sociological Abstracts, Worldcat and Bielefield Academic Search Engine.

ATTRIBUTION OF THE REVISTA CRÍTICA DE CIÊNCIAS SOCIAIS PRIZE - EDITION 2024

The paper “O urbano nas margens do campo: por uma sociologia dos espaços e vidas residuais”, by Wellington Ricardo Nogueira Maciel, is the winner of the 2024 edition of Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais Prize in the amount of 1.000 euros.

Two honorable mentions were attributed to the papers: “Masculinidades no sistema socioeducativo do Rio de Janeiro: disputas e polarizações”, by Jimena de Garay Hernández and Juliana Vinuto, and “Pandemia, crise económica e o novo papel do Estado”, by Nuno Teles.
