About the journal

Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais (RCCS), a journal of the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, publishes three times a year the results of advanced research in all fields of the social and human sciences. It favours works with a transdisciplinary approach which contribute to theoretical discussion, epistemological thinking, and critical knowledge about contemporary reality on a global scale. RCCS accepts submissions about all geographical contexts, giving special attention to studies which specially contribute to theoretical and epistemological innovation coming from the global South. The journal publishes in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

RCCS publishes non-thematic and thematic issues, the last ones guest-edited by renowned researchers from different fields. All submissions are subjected to double-blind peer review.

The open access journal Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais is part of the network Eurozine and is indexed in Scopus, SJR – SCImago Journal and Country Rank, Web of Science-Clarivate Analytics (Emerging Sources Citation Index - ESCI and SciELO Citation Index), SciELO, Qualis-CAPES, DOAJ, ERIH Plus, EBSCO, Francis, International Bibliography of the Social Sciences, Latindex, Pascal, Sudoc, Sociological Abstracts, Worldcat and Bielefield Academic Search Engine.

__________

RCCS deeply regrets the death of Fernando Ruivo (1951-2021), who was part of the small group of researchers who founded the Journal in 1978 and laid the foundations for what would become the Centre for Social Studies (CES). Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra and researcher at CES, he left a notable work particularly in studies on local power and public policies.
