Peer review process

Peer review process for the thematic issues and the varia articles

  • The applicant coordinator of a thematic issue provides a one-page argument that is submitted to the editorial board. After acceptance, the coordinator solicits authors by sending them the arguments and the Instructions for authors.

  • The “varia” papers are received from calls for proposals or voluntary contributions.

  • The editorial secretary sends each article to the journal editor, the coordinator of the thematic issue or the two members of the editorial board in charge of the varia.

  • A check is carried out to ensure that the article abides by the scientific and editorial line. The author may therefore be asked to make substantial changes and send back a new version of his/her text.

  • The anonymized article is reviewed by two experts in the field, members of the editorial and scientific boards or not. Reviewers write a report using an evaluation form (reproduced below).

  • The reviewers’ reports are forwarded to the journal editor, the coordinator of the thematic issue or the persons responsible for the “varia” section. In case of significant discrepancies, a third evaluation may be requested from a member of the editorial board.

  • A synthesis of the reviews is communicated to the author by the editorial secretary after deliberation with the coordinator or the persons responsible for the “varia” section. Depending on the comments made and the opinion expressed (positive; negative; reserved opinion requesting corrections or modifications), the author is invited to send back a revised version of his/her text.

  • The revised version of the text is sent to the members of the editorial board who decide on its final acceptance.

  • Minor changes may still be requested from the author for a last version of his/her text.

  • Before sending the manuscript to the publisher, the editorial secretary communicates the final version of his/her text to the author.

Peer review process for the chronicles

  • Chronicles are received from calls for proposals or voluntary contributions.

  • The editorial secretary sends each article to the journal editor and two members of the editorial board.

  • A check is carried out to ensure that the article abides by the scientific and editorial line. The author may therefore be asked to make changes and send back a new version of his/her text.

  • A corrected version of the text is sent back to the author with requests for modifications or clarifications.

  • The author returns a revised version of his/her text. Minor changes may still be requested for a last version.

  • Before sending the manuscript to the publisher, the editorial secretary communicates the final version of his/her text to the author.
