Presentation
Since 1985, the Revue Européenne des Migrations Internationales (REMI) has published empirical and theoretical research from or at the crossroads of different disciplines on international migration and inter-ethnic relations.
The journal has been able to adapt to the changes experienced by the French edition in humanities and social sciences (online on OpenEdition, Cairn.info and Persée) and has chosen to stop publishing its paper version in 2021 in order to adapt its economic model to these changes. Then, to match the expectations of its readers more closely, REMI, which is heavily involved in the open science movement in line with the requirements of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), has been accessible free of charge and without delay since 1st January 2024. This policy promotes the spread of knowledge, allowing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or create links to the full texts of articles, while promoting greater scientific collaboration and making research work accessible to a wider audience.
REMI’s copyright, deposit and self-archiving policies are states on the website of Mir@bel, facilitating the diffusion and access to research work for a diversified public. REMI also has its own collection on HAL.
REMI delivers four issues per year (including one double issue) and is available in full text on OpenEdition. The latest issues of the journal are also available in full text on Cairn.info. Issues prior to 2002 are online in full text on Persée.
The journal is published by the Université de Poitiers (France) with the support of the Institut national des Sciences Humaines et Sociales (InSHS du CNRS). The Editorial Board is responsible for its production and delegates this function to the Editor(s)-in-Chief of the journal. The President of the University of Poitiers is the Publication Director and is legally responsible for the journal. The headquarters of the journal are located at the Maison des Sciences Humaines et Sociales de Poitiers.
As an interdisciplinary journal open to all social sciences, REMI observes the diversity and evolution of migration systems, the complexity of international migration, and social dynamics. Its main purposes are:
- Approaching the international migration studies in a multi- and interdisciplinary way. Standing at the crossroads of social sciences, such as Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Law, Demography, History, etc., REMI aims to provide a rich and diversified analysis of migration as a phenomenon.
- Presenting the perspective of European and international scholars on migration.
- Providing the journal’s contents to a wide range of readers (researchers, teachers, students, etc.), and promoting its accessibility to the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking publics.
