Presentation of the Journal
The Revue Européenne des Migrations Internationales (European Journal of International Migration – REMI), created in 1985, is an international multidisciplinary peer-reviewed academic journal, specialised in the field of international migration. The journal aims to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge on migratory phenomena around the world and to publish original texts in French, English and Spanish (articles, research notes, book reviews, columns). It publishes four issues a year. Submitted articles are subject to anonymous peer review by at least three reviewers, including members of the Editorial Board and external experts.
The journal is published by the University of Poitiers (France), under the responsibility of the Editorial Board, which delegates responsibility for its production to the Editor(s) in Chief of the journal. The Director of Publication, who is legally responsible for the journal, is the President of the University of Poitiers.
The headquarters of the journal are at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société (House of Social & Human Sciences) in Poitiers.
Editorial Bodies
The day-to-day running of the journal shall be the responsibility of three complementary bodies.
Editor(s) in Chief
The Editor(s) in Chief of the journal shall be co-opted by the Editorial Board. The term of office shall be four years and shall be renewable. The Editor(s) in Chief shall ensure the smooth running of each issue, and arbitrate decisions on the editorial and scientific organisation of the publication. They shall convene and chair two to three meetings a year of the Editorial Board. They shall represent the journal at various public meetings and events. They shall make the decisions necessary for the day-to-day running of the journal (manufacturing and printing conditions, requests for subsidies, subscription rates, preparation of editorial policy).
Editorial Board
The Editorial Board shall be responsible for defining editorial policy and the general focus of the journal. It shall determine the content of each issue, nominate experts to review submitted articles, decide on the final contents of each issue on the basis of opinions expressed, and promote collaboration based on the topics to be addressed. Board members shall, according to their areas of expertise, be the guarantors of published texts. The Board shall entrust the coordination of each issue to a maximum of three coordinators, at least one of whom shall be a member of the Editorial Board. Coordinators shall ensure the follow-up of the articles in the issue and liaise with the authors in conjunction with the Editor(s) in Chief.
The Editorial Board shall be composed of academics or researchers representing the various disciplines of the humanities and social sciences, and shall be enlarged or renewed by co-optation on the proposal of members of the Editorial Board. Should a member remain idle for a prolonged period (e.g., failure to participate in meetings for more than three years or failure to initiate journal issues), their position on the Board shall be considered vacant.
The Editorial Board shall invite and consider applications from prospective members of the Board or of the network of correspondents. Before being contacted, potential applicants must have carried out review, publishing or coordination activities within REMI.
Foreign Correspondents
Foreign correspondents form a network of experts in migration issues linked to the journal. They shall assist the Editorial Board in the collection and review of submitted articles. They shall collaborate with the journal, propose articles, columns or book reviews and provide information on research development in their countries. They shall be co-opted by the Editorial Board.
