The role of the journal

Image 10000000000000BB00000073290528E8.jpg

Since the Centre for Research in British studies was founded, its journal has been the most visible element of its work. For over thirty years it has been published at least twice a year. All articles are anonymously peer-reviewed and the journal has gained a reputation for high quality scientific production. Each issue is edited by a specialist on the particular theme covered, to guarantee the quality of the final product. In order to respond to the needs both of researchers and of a wider readership, issues are produced on themes connected to the programmes of the competitive exams for entry into the teaching profession in France, and on other subjects of scientific interest.

We are keen to be open to comparative approaches, studying differences and similarities between Britain and other societies, but also to studies of countries with strong links in past or present to Britain. It is not the nostalgia of empire, but a desire for openness and understanding between equals, which motivates this intention.

We hope you will enjoy our journal.

Jean-Paul Revauger

Président, CRECIB

Where can the journal be found ?

The Revue française de civilisation britannique (French Journal of British Studies) is published two or three times a year. Issues are based on themes of current affairs, politics, history, society and culture. The articles are generally written, in French or in English, by French and British researchers.

Since May 2015, the journal has been available free online on the revues.org platform. Some issues are also published in paper format and distributed by the Presses de la Sorbonne Nouvelle. These can be bought at their bookshop (8 Rue de la Sorbonne, Paris) or may be ordered online at  their site or at the comptoir des presses d’universités.

Back issues available online

The French Journal of British Studies has existed for over thirty years. We have now begun the long process of putting online the seventy or so back issues. We will be puttign as many as possible onto the revues.org platform. You will find others on the site of  Cercles or on the main CRECIB site here and here.
