Marcel DAVID entre syndicalisme et université

Le concept de « formation-action »
Françoise Fortunet
p. 41-48

Abstracts

Marcel David founded the first Workers’ Academic Institute in 1955. Such a creation is dependent on a university “open” to all walks of life and all levels of knowledge and to an adaptation of trade-unions to a context of de-industrialization.

A new type of training is proposed, the so called “training-and-action”. It’s about an “active culture”, training individuals, but meant to fall within a collective framework.

In spite of various threats such as immobilism, rule of thumb and a possible marginalization of management and labour, the Workers’ Institutes are filling an original space and have their legitimacy recognized.
