This issue of SCOLIA gathers linguists working on topicalization in the left periphery of the clause. It offers original and inventive research which compares on the one hand the left periphery of standard French with other language families and on the other hand relates to the acquisition and evolution of French. The systematic language comparisons presented include updated analyses of the derivation of topicalized constituents in French and other languages and even the acqusition of French as L1 or L2. This journal issue aims at readers with special interest in the syntax of French and its interfaces with semantics, pragmatics and information structure.
